Publishers Description: The 2017-18 summer marks the 40th anniversary of one of Australias greatest social revolutions - World Series Cricket, an event that changed professional sport forever. Suddenly, the gentlemans game had four outlaw teams playing a dazzling brand of the game under spotlights, wearing crash helmets, using white balls and wearing coloured clothing. The TVs were full of catchy jingles and the crowds came in droves. But the real revolution was that the worlds most elite cricketers were at last earning enough to quit their day jobs and go truly professional. Cricket Outlaws celebrates Packers Revolution four decades later and features 40+ exclusive reflections written by WSCs greatest stars - Dennis Lillee, Viv Richards, Ian Chappell, Richard Hadlee, Michael Holding and more (plus the key players behind the scenes), many of them speaking publically on WSC for the first time. About the Author Austin Robertson, was already a West Australian sporting god - his 1278 goal pile still stands as a record in the WAFL - when Kerry Packer whispered in his ear and sent him off to secretly sign 35 top international players to form the outlaw armies of WSCs rebel cricket circus of 1977-78. He went on to become the manager of Dennis Lillee and Shane Warne and a successful author and publisher with Swan Publishing. Austin was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 2015. He lives in Perth.
